VANDALISM in East London caused severe delays on the Central Line all the way to Ealing on Wednesday night.

Vandals were reported throwing stones at passing trains on the line between Stratford and Leyton at 5.55pm. It is believed up to eight windows were damaged leaving passengers shaken.

The incident had a knock-on effect to the rest of the line during the evening rush hour, with severe delays from 6.10pm until 7.45pm.

Minor delays were reported from 8.15pm due to a subsequent signal failure at Stratford causing many east-bound trains running through the borough to terminate at White City.
