A TEACHING assistant has been commended in the London final of the Teaching Awards.
Victoria McLaren, who works at Uxbridge High School, in The Greenway, Uxbridge, was short listed at the prestigious ceremony, and presented with an engraved glass award.
She was nominated by the school's Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Christine Lindsay, and the school for her outstanding work with students.
Peter Lang, headteacher, said: “She is highly regarded and respected by the whole school community, students, staff, parents and governors.
“The school is very proud of her achievements and that they have been recognised in this award.”
Her role in helping the school improve its GCSE five A* to C grades including maths and English, were particularly praised.
Vicki McLaren, said: “This award reflects the hard work done by all the staff and students at Uxbridge High School and I am very proud to accept it.”
