THE historic design of Uxbridge tube station has delayed upgrade work to make way for longer new Met Line trains.

Previously, the new trains which had been arriving at Uxbridge had not been full capacity.

The tube station is a Grade II listed building and this has caused a hold up for Transport for London to need to carry out the improvements.

A TfL spokesperson said: "Works to accommodate the new longer trains at Uxbridge station have been extended and are expected to be completed by the end of March. Parts of Uxbridge station are subject to listed building consent and as a result, needed bespoke material which took longer to acquire."
