A TWO minute silence will be held in Uxbridge today as an act of Remembrance to mark the lives of those who died fighting for their country.

The ceremony which take place on the Civic Centre forecourt in Uxbridge will commence at 10.50am.

There will be a special two minute silence at 11.00am which will coincide with maroon rockets being launched from sites across the Borough to signify the start of the Silence and they will be fired again at 11.02am to signal the end.

Standards from the Royal British Legion and the Normandy Veterans Association will be on parade and a Trumpeter from the Royal Air Force will play the Last Post and the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Shirley Harper-O'Neill will show her respects.
