Volunteers who recycle and re-service old bikes in Uxbridge have been learning how to put security marks on them with help from local police.

Recycle-a-Bike revamps unwanted bicycles which are then sold at affordable prices to the community, reducing the number that are dumped or end in landfills. Bikes with security marks are registered onto a national database and used by police  to prevent and detect bike thefts.

The volunteer-based organisation helps people suffering from mental health illness and provides support, training and a stepping stone back to employment.

To get your bike tagged with a security mark visit Recycle-a-Bike, at The Old Fire Station in Cricket Field Road, on weekdays 9am-5pm (closed Wednesdays) or Saturday 10am-3pm, or call  01895 347 210  for more information.
