Jack Saunders, with east London-based street dance ensemble Unity UK, blew away the competition in the show's last semi-final yesterday evening (Sunday), with a spectacular routine that gained the only standing ovation of the night, and the lion's share of the public vote.

For the routine, Jack was a gold star being chased down by the rest of the group, dressed as hunters. Gold stars are a mark of judges' approval on the show, and red stars are reserved for those who miss the mark.

The Uxbridge College student showed his dexterity with some incredible airborne stunts and breakdancing to help book Unity UK's place in this Sunday's final.

Pint-sized eight-strong troupe Kazzum also gained safe pasage through, at the expense of Belle, Dharms, Lindsey & Ryan and Reflection.

Jack, who turned 18 last Friday , told the Gazette: "I still can't believe it has happened. I watched the show back when I got home, and it still hasn't really sunk in yet.

"I didn't really feel good about the routine going into Sunday because our first proper run through was on Saturday, and we'd only had one dress rehearsal.

"There was a lot of pressure, but once we got going it was fine, and we could just let loose."

Unity UK are one of 10 finalists who will be battling out for the £250,000 prize next Sunday (March 4), and Jack said that a gruelling week of rehearsals and auditions lies ahead.

"This week is going to be non-stop, but I am just raring to go.

"We have stepped up with each round, and on Sunday, we are going to take it up another level. I can't wait."

Unity UK and Kazzum join street dancers Prodijig, Boadicea, Antics, Methods Of Movement and A-Team; young ballet partners Tayluer and Elliott; Theatrical ensemble, Fear Of The Unknown; and seven year old Mya McDade, known as 'Sweet Surprise', in this Sunday's final, on Sky 1/HD at 6pm.
