TWO suspects aged 22 were arrested following an alleged cash-in-transit robbery in Wembley.

Police were called at 10.40am on Thursday to HSBC’s branch in Wembley Park Drive following an attack on employees of a G4S security van outside in which no-one was injured.

Two men were arrested after their car hit railings near the bank, causing the unmarked police car in pursuit to collide with the stationary vehicle.

Two suspects were arrested on suspicion of robbery and were taken to separate north London police stations for questioning.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad are investigating and the London Ambulance Service confirmed it was not called out to the incident.

A spokesman for G4S said: “We can confirm that an attack was made on one of our crews in the Wembley area on the morning of Thursday May 8.

“Fortunately, our courier was not injured during the attack.

“As is standard practice at G4S, he has been offered counselling and management is on hand to support him.

“The psychological impact that attacks of this nature can have on individuals should not be underestimated.

“Our staff have the right to expect to be able to go about their duties without fear of attack and we are working with the police so that those responsible for this incident can be made accountable for their actions in court.”

n Witnesses should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
