A WOMAN died after jumping from a flat fire in Heston and another body was found inside the building.

Two men who also jumped to escape the blaze are being treated in hospital.

The fire broke out in a flat above a shop in New Heston Road in the early hours of this morning.

London Fire Brigade was called at 1.39am and about 58 firefighters tackled the blaze before bringing it under control at about 4.20am.

About 50 people from surrounding properties were evacuated to nearby Heston village hall.

Part of the second floor and half of the roof of the property was damaged by the fire.

Neither police nor the fire brigade would confirm the sex of the person found dead inside the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by police and fire officers.
