KINGSTON Two people were arrested and six blue badges were confiscated during a crack-down on the misuse of disabled parking badges.
Officers from the council's Counter Fraud and Corruption Unit and Parking Services joined forces with police officers from the Grove Safer Neighbourhood Team and NSL Civil Enforcement officers.
It followed complaints from residents in the town centre Grove ward. All drivers found to be misusing the badges were issued with a £60 penalty charge notice, and those arrested may face prosecution.
Kingston's director of planning and transportation, Roy Thompson, said: "I am very pleased at the success of this operation in tackling such an unpleasant form of fraud. This builds on the regular patrols NSL civil enforcement officers undertake in conjunction with the police against badge misuse and the daily checks that are made across the borough."
