POLICE have arrested two people in connection with a fatal stabbing in Southall.

A 24-year-old man was found with a stab wound in Spikes Bridge Road, Southall, on Saturday (14) afternoon.

Police were called to the scene following reports of an assault around 12.15pm but believe he was attacked earlier in the day around 6am.

The victim, who is yet to be formally identified, was taken to a west London hospital where he later died.

On Sunday (15), a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and a 21-year-old woman detained in connection with the inquiry. Both remain in custody pending further inquiries.

Christine Warman, of Spikes Bridge Road, said: "I didn't know what happened. I'm retired so I was in all day but I never heard anything.

"I didn't even hear the police cars come until I came out with the dogs. They had cordoned off the street, what seemed like hundreds of police.

"I heard lots of screaming and shouting but that's normal. It's usually a very quiet area. We get some trouble from the park and police cars come but that's about it."

A post-mortem at Uxbridge Mortuary on Sunday gave cause of death as a single stab wound to the chest.

The Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.
