A PREMISES licence application made by a Somalian community centre with a history of violence and not following the rules has been refused.

Ealing Council’s licensing sub-committee met to discuss the future of Red Room, Perivale, on Wednesday last week.

A council spokeswoman said: “They refused the application due to the venue’s track record of hosting unlicensed events, as well as ongoing incidents of noise and anti-social behaviour resulting in police involvement.”

Three serious assaults have been linked to the club on Bideford Avenue.

The first involved a victim being hit over the head with a glass bottle and receiving two stab wounds to his leg in June last year. No arrests have been made.

The second occasion ended with someone in hospital requiring 11 stitches in his lip after being punched last September.

The most recent incident, at the end of January, had witnesses reporting a fight where chair legs were used as weapons and a male got a two-inch slash wound to his right arm and had blood coming from his mouth.
