A headteacher has paid tribute to a 'kind, intelligent and hardworking' pupil who died after collapsing at a bus stop outside her school.

Magdalena Szablinska, of Hayes, was waiting for a bus outside St Mark's Catholic School, in Bath Road, Hounslow, on Tuesday at about 3pm, when she went into cardiac arrest.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics had taken the 16-year-old to West Middlesex Hospital as a priority, but doctors had been unable to revive her.

Paul Enright, headteacher at St Mark's, said the school community was 'greatly saddened' by the loss of a 'wonderful' student.

"Magda was kind, intelligent, hardworking, cheerful and positive. She was a great role model for other students and very popular among her peer group," he added.

"Magda was an integral part of our school family and we will miss her very much.  The school community have been praying for Magda and her family.  We will be organising a special memorial mass and details will be placed on the school website."

Mr Enright added that special assemblies had been held for all year groups yesterday, where pupils and staff had prayed for Magda.

A fellow student took to Twitter to pay her respects. Shannontobin1 tweeted: "You were my first friend at St Mark's and one of my closest ever since. You were so beautiful Magda, inside and out. I love you and miss you so so much. RIP."
