I FULLY support the proposal for motorists to be able to appeal to an independent tribunal with regard to rogue clampers.
Last Friday, my car was clamped under very dubious circumstances, on the corner of Uxbridge Road, Hayes.
As a 50-year-old woman alone, finding myself surrounded by unidentified men demanding £300 in cash to release me, I felt extremely intimidated, ending up shaking and in tears.
Daylight robbery, indeed: had these men not been able to hide behind their mask of being clampers, they would have been seen as muggers and arrested.
At present, with no one to appeal to but the clampers themselves - and the police not interested in this 'civil matter' - what am I to do?
