Travellers who have moved onto public land in South Ruislip are to be summonsed to court.

Two caravans and a car parked up on a cycle path in West End Road on Friday (November 28).

The occupants have reportedly destroyed public property and dumped rubbish.

The council has served notices ordering them to leave, but they have not done so.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, December 3), the local authority will apply for a court order and a summons for them to appear at court.

A council spokesperson said: “As a council we refuse to tolerate anyone who settles illegally in our borough and will take robust action against them.”

She added: “We will hold them accountable for any litter and damage they may have caused.”

Ward councillor Judy Kelly said residents had told her the travellers had knocked over bollards and fly-tipped rubbish.

She added: “That's absolutely not on. I support proper designated sites for travellers but I cannot support their right to just park anywhere they want to. It's unfair on other residents.”
