Weekend football fixtures could all be cancelled after a group of 'aggressive' travellers invaded a football club's car park.

On Thursday night (November 28), roughly 50 travellers with approximately 15 caravans moved into the car park of the privately-owned Kodak Sports Ground in Harrow View, Wealdstone.

Kodak Football Club Secretary, Peter Croffey said: "If they don't go today, all the fixtures will be cancelled over the weekend.

"There was football training going on when they moved in, I was called down there last night. They were quite aggressive and broke one of the gates."

Harrow Council have said that the illegal camp is the biggest to take place in Harrow for the past five years.

Mr Croffey added:"We just want them to move out so that we can carry on with playing football."

Police have said that they are monitoring the site and providing additional patrols to reassure the local community, they were also called to an address in Reservoir Road, Ruislip at 8.30pm on Thursday night to reports of travellers entering the property.

Leader of Harrow Council, Susan Hall (Conservative) said: "These people have no right to simply set up home anywhere they like in Harrow."

The site is owned by Land Securities and is part of the Kodak and Zoom Leisure sites in Harrow View that are set to undergo a £320million redevelopment by the firm, which been working with Harrow Council on the project for the past three years.

Land Securities told the Observer that they are aware of the situation and are reviewing their options.
