Your scathing attack on our two MPs, Ann and Alan Keen, for their lack of support for the Tory motion in the House of Commons on January28 came as no surprise ('Keen on airport expansion', Chronicle, February 5).
Good on them. Anyone with a real understanding of the needs of our area wouldn't have supported such a fallacious, ill-conceived and insubstantial motion. It was purely to embarrass the Government rather than give us an idea of future Tory policy.
On that day Mayor Boris intervened by saying he would like to see the expanded airport transposed to the Thames Gateway.
He clearly had given no thought to how this might be planned in order to safeguard property, wildlife, and the business impact on that particular area.
This confirms that, locally and nationally, Tory thinking on this issue is completely muddled.
