I was interested to read a letter that appeared on your pages last week regarding Hounslow Conservative Club in Gresham Road and that its back garden is an overgrown wilderness.

This land does not belong to the Conservative Club and does not have to be maintained by them as it is a public open space.

The Conservative Club agreed to surrender its old club in Alexandra Road and a new club was built for them as part of the key site regeneration scheme.

The site of the old Conservative Club has been turned into a 100-space car park for use by the residents in the flats above Asda (although I've never seen any cars parked in it).

What will happen to this piece of land when a new developer takes over the second stage of Key Site One, as I know it was originally going to be built on and is far too valuable to be used as a car park?

The seven shops between the old Woolwich Building Society and the old New Look store are going to be demolished to make way for the entrance to the second half of the new town centre, so are currently being let as budget clothing stores.

I have noticed there are boards on some of these stores saying 'acquired by Blenheim Norwest' (the developer of the first stage of the redevelopment which has parted ways with Hounslow Council).

When the second stage is eventually opened, what will it be called?

Surely the council would have to ask Blenheim Norwest if they can continue to use their name or may decide it's easier if the Blenheim Centre name was dropped and a new name given to the whole site.

I wrote to your letters page earlier in the year asking what was to become of the Lampton

conference centre. This is now called 'The Annex' by Civic Centre staff.

I understand that Blenheim Norwest gave £2million, which was matched by Hounslow Council, to build this centre to include community use.

The centre was a 'niche build' built before Key Site One was finished and I asked the question, if Blenheim Norwest had only completed half the new town centre, would they be entitled to ask for £1million of their investment to be returned to them (I was thinking along the lines of £2million for a complete town centre - therefore £1million for half a town centre).

I was quite surprised that nobody wrote in to offer an explanation of this situation.

I can understand why Hounslow Council and Blenheim Norwest are both remaining tight-lipped about what is happening, but I believe there are more facets to this saga than will ever be made public knowledge.

Let's hope that there will be some news of a new developer being appointed, and work on the second half of the town centre starts soon.

As for the public open space in Gresham Road (it doesn't have a name), maybe if Blenheim Norwest had completed Key Site One they would have handed over this part to Hounslow Council as planned, and they would have to cut the grass.

Let's wait and see if someone writes into your letters page to offer a solution.
