Hairdressing students showcased their skills to top salon managers in a Moulin Rouge-themed competition.

Representatives from the likes of L'Oreal and Livia visited West Thames College's Isleworth campus on Tuesday (March 25) to judge contestants' styling abilities.

They were given a tour of the commercial salons at the campus in London Road, which are open to the public, before learning about the opportunity to take on apprentices from the college.

The evening continued with a performance by BTEC dance students, before judges announced the winners of the 'Spectular' competition.

Taz Khuzal, apprenticeship account manager at the college, said: "Spectacular was a perfect opportunity for employers from the hairdressing industry to see the fantastic work our students and staff do at the college and to find out more about opportunities to get involved with our apprenticeships.

"We're already working with a number of local employers training apprentices in hair, beauty and an array of other industries, all with the aim of helping young people develop the skills they need to find work and for local businesses to develop skilled employees."
