Can anyone find a solution to Hounslow and Feltham's filthy, depressing streets? No wonder there are rats around the job centre in Feltham, they must be having a field day frolicking around in the muck, discarded food, cartons and wrappings dumped for others to clean up.

The area surrounding the Blenheim Centre in Hounslow is another case in point.

The boarded up houses neighbouring it look so sad. Only the other day, walking past Steve Biko Way, a pile of rubbish had been dumped at the verge.

Fag butts are also routinely disposed off out-side offices along Staines Road.

As if this isn't enough, you will soon have to play hopscotch to dodge the mountains of dog muck on the pavement, especially in Grove Road, and wear special macs to avoid been splatted by people routinely spitting in public.

My sympathies lie with the council in clearing up this mess but, ultimately, the onus must be on individuals.

Does no one have any pride in the borough in which they live and work?

If you do, why not do something about it and clean the place up, especially if it's your dog making a mess.

A REYNOLDS Teddington.
