I HAVE seen the Leader headline and my first thought was the restoration of the 222 bus to and from Ruislip.

In general, on cross-borough journeys much changing has to be done at Uxbridge, involving time spent awaiting connections and, often, higher fares.

Happily, the U1 was restored south of Uxbridge not so long ago, but it could be abolished altogether after a 222 extension.

South Ruislip and Northwood Hills to Hayes journeys are catered for by a Tube journey, then a change to the 90 or 140 bus, but an express version of the 140 would be welcome, especially if the bunching could be reduced.

However, my greatest wish would be for a new interchange station at West Ruislip (with) the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines.

What a pity the Uxbridge-West-Drayton line was closed all those years ago.

Today, it would make an ideal route for an Uxbridge-Heathrow underground line extension.
