THE installation of single sex wards in Hillingdon Hospital has proved a success with an inspection rating privacy and dignity with a 100 per cent score.
The results of an annual PEAT Assessment from the Department of Health which looks into hospital standards, marked privacy and dignity 29 per cent higher than this time last year.
National regulations have meant the Trust has had to make several changes over the last year in separating male and female accommodation.
The Trust wrote: "We are proud to confirm that mixed sex accommodation has been virtually eliminated in our trust.
"Patients who are admitted to any of our hospitals will only share the room where they sleep with members of the same sex, and same sex toilets and bathrooms will be close to their bed area.
"Sharing with members of the opposite sex will only happen by exception based on clinical need."
