A MAN who injured six people in a frenzied attack with broken bottles has been sentenced to 10 years in jail.

Charandeep Banger, of Gledwood Avenue, Hayes, was convicted for his involvement in a fight that resulted in three people requiring major reconstructive surgery.

Two other men - Eshin Purewal, 20, and Rajinder Judge, 22 - were also given custodial sentences for their part in the incident, outside Venue 5 in Field End Road, Eastcote.

The court heard that the Asian dinner and dance club was hosting a family party on the evening of January 29, 2010 when Judge was escorted out for unacceptable behaviour. Angered by his treatment, he called Purewal, who drove Banger, armed with two bottles of spirits, to Venue 5.

Judge confronted the men who had thrown him out, and starting throwing punches in the club's car park.

Banger, 27, was described as the main protagonist, and he was seen smashing his bottles on the ground and then indiscriminately attacking his victims.

Those who attempted to pull Banger from the victims were also assaulted. All victims sustained substantial injuries, and most of them had to have glass removed from the wounds. One man had to have 40 stitches on his face, and has been scarred for life.

Banger left the scene in the bue VW Golf, and police found the burned-out car 10 days later. Banger and Purewal were arrested the next morning. Judge was picked up several days later.

PC Lee Somerville said of the case: "Mr Banger was very violent on this night and showed no remorse to his victims. I commend those who showed bravery and supported us with the investigation. This substantial term in prison was required for these vicious attacks."

The men appeared at Isleworth Crown Court on January 14. Banger was convicted on two GBH charges, one of affray and common assault. He will be on licence for three years after release.

Purewal, of Leamington Road, Southall, was given 36 weeks in a young offenders' institution for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Judge, of Brookside Road, Hayes, was given a 36-week sentence, suspended for 18 months, for affray.
