ON BEHALF of Hayes Town Business Forum and Hayes Town Partnership, we would like to place on record our thanks for the outstanding work of one of our local police community support officers, Jo Williams.

For some time Hayes Town Partnership has been keen to hear the voice of local business people.

When it learned that the police were planning to do a survey about the views of shopkeepers on community safety, it suggested that this should be made a joint exercise with Hillingdon Chamber of Commerce.

This was agreed and the task was commissioned by Inspector Mike Smith and Sergeant Simon Robson, of the Townfield Safer Neighbourhoods team.

However, the leg work was carried out by PCSO Williams, who visited more than 100 businesses in Hayes and as well as gathering opinions, her enthusiasm and commitment led directly to the forum being set up.

Besides being responsible for promoting the idea of a business group, she has also produced the agendas and minutes for most of the meetings and delivered them door to door as part of her regular dialogue with local retailers.

Jo is leaving to go to the police training school at Hendon in order to become a fully fledged police officer. We would like to thank her for all that she has done for Hayes and to wish her the very best for the future.

She is hoping to return to the borough after she has completed her training and if that is confirmed, it will be great news for local people.
