THOUSANDS packed into Hurlingham Park last weekend as Polo in the Park galloped into Fulham once again.

The three-day international event, from Friday to Sunday, attracted teams from London, Buenos Aires, Moscow, Delhi, China, Abu Dhabi and Sydney who were all battling to get their hands on the trophy.

But it is equally popular as an occasion for people to get dressed up and enjoy a glass of bubbly, of which nearly 10,000 bottles were sunk. Guests also enjoyed a Harrods food court, luxury shopping village and pitchside bars.

A stunt display by The Devil’s Horsemen entertained crowds throughout the weekend while Sunday’s family day games proved popular with youngsters.

And visitors, who suffered a rain-soaked weekend, had home success to cheer when Team London beat Buenos Aires in the final to lift the 2012 crown.

Nearby residents are given about 2,000 free tickets each year and the council recently agreed a deal with organisers to keep the event in Fulham until 2019.
