Don't let the rain forecast stop you from having a good old laugh this weekend.

Two veterans collaborate at a fundraiser for Michael Sobell Hospice on Friday night.

MSH patron and writer/comedian Barry Cryer is performing alongside his long-time collaborator Ronnie Golden and support acts.

Cryer travels the country as a solo stand-up and is a regular on Radio 4’s comedy series I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.

Oscar-nominated songwriter and stand-up Golden was formerly the lead singer with cult rock band Fabulous Poodles.

Doors for the event at the Comedy Bunker in Ickenham Road, West Ruislip, open at 8pm. Tickets cost £12 with £4 going to the charity.

If a song and dance is more your thing check out the ‘ultimate’ in tributes to the original Rocket Man as lifelong Elton John fan, Paul Bacon comes to town.

Paul first performed his songs while at university in the early 1980s. He is now the ultimate tribute act, alongside his Rocket Band.

Sir Elton John, who was born and grew up in Pinner, is one of the most successful singer/songwriters of the past four decades. Now see the next best thing, live at The Tropic at Ruislip, Ruislip Social Club, Grosvenor Vale.

Tickets cost £12 on the door, doors open at 8.30pm.

To round off the weekend don't miss the hugely popular Ruislip Woods Festival, which is free to attend and including many of the family favourites, such as birds of prey displays, woodland crafts, morris dancing, ferret racing and a pet dog show.

To start the festival off, there will be a family walk starting at the entrance to Poors Field at 11am, led by Hillingdon Council's Woodland Officer Richard Hutton and Tree Officer Jon Gurr.

Dogs will not be allowed on the walk, which will finish at 12noon in time for the start of the event.

There are a few ‘firsts’ this year: the Welsh Axe Men lumberjacks, who will race their way through the tough work of chopping up tree trunks; a chance for children to try their hand at archery; and West of London Astronomical Society is setting up telescopes to view the sun if it decides to appear.

The event is held on Willow Lawn at Ruislip Lido, in Reservoir Road, Ruislip, on Sunday from 12pm - 4.30pm.
