The Dorchester Hotel has been the victim of a smash and grab exactly a month after a similar raid at the exclusive hotel.

At around 2.20am today six men on three mopeds pulled up outside the five-star Park Lane hotel and three of them smashed their way through the front door.

They smashed display cabinets and stole a number of items. Officers are still working to establish exactly what was stolen.

The men left moments later, fleeing the scene on the waiting mopeds. No arrests have been made so far.

Police are now trying to ascertain if there is a link between today's robbery and another smash and grab at the hotel popular with the rich and famous on June 10.

A month ago three masked men smashed jewellery display cabinets with sledgehammers shortly after 1.30am then jumped onto mopeds with three others as they made away with watches and jewellery worth more than £150,000.

Police have not been able to arrest anybody for the raid although a man who stole an injured woman's handbag as she lay unconscious after the June raid has been jailed.

Detective Sergeant Mark Staples said: "We continue to work towards identifying those responsible for carrying out not only the robbery which took place in the early hours of this morning but the robbery which took place last month.

“We have yet to make arrests in relation to either incident and we urgently require the support of the public with providing us with any information no matter how small. There may be people who know who is responsible and I am keen for those with any information to come forward and assist us with our investigation.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
