I WAS astonished at last week's letter from the Trustees of the Friends of Bedfont Lakes Country Park, which claimed most people perceive specialist nature events there are 'elitist' and attract only a handful of people'.

When my family went along to a bat watch at the country park last year, there must have been at least 150 people there.

Likewise, a friend who took her children to a star gazing session reported at big attendance.

These sort of claims by the trustees are hardly good publicity for this brilliant place.
