THE FAMILYof former mayor Millie Brister (Amelia Florence Brister) would like to thank family, friends, neighbours, organisations in the community, local business and the local authority for the many floral and card tributes in celebration and memory of Millie's life and work.

We would like to thank everyone for the major contributions they have made to Millie's chosen charities.

We were able to send £550 to each of Millie's chosen charities - Helen & Douglas House (Oxford, the first children's hospice) and Shooting Star Children's Hospice (Hampton), from donations made.

In addition we were advised by Helen House of a further £310 in donations sent directly and

by Shooting Star of a further £100. Even after her death Millie remained a great fundraiser for important causes - what a woman!

The family also wishes to thank London Borough of Hounslow's council, mayor, chief executive and councillors for their tributes to Millie at their first council meeting of 2009.

The one-minute silence was both appropriate and beautiful and will be welcomed by everyone who knew Millie and the many people who she supported and helped.

We thank everyone for their kind wishes and sympathy and support. This girl will not be forgotten, 95 years of age but with the strength, vitality and commitment to others of a 20-year-old.

Many can learn from her life and experiences.
