EVCAAP (Eastcote Village Conservation Area Advisory Panel) would like to thank all those who have resolutely fought against the last three applications to redevelop the Initial House site at 150 Field End Road, Eastcote (Here to stay, Ruislip and Eastcote Gazette, March 31).
They are: Those who wrote letters; signed the two petitions (the submission of the Eastcote Residents' Association petition of nearly 200 signatures coincided with the withdrawal of the application); Eastcote Residents' Association; and Hammond Roberts of Eastcote (for making the petition available for all to sign).
Also our ward councillors and MP Nick Hurd; the council officers, for detailed analysis of the application and decision to recommend refusal; and The Gazette for publicising the application.
The residents of Eastcote are not against this area being redeveloped, but the replacement building must be in keeping with our 'Metroland' town, and complement the Morford Way Conservation Area.
There will be other applications, and we must continue to object until a suitable replacement for this eyesore is found.
It is far better to live with this building a little longer, to wait for a worthy successor, than to accept another eyesore in its place, which will be there, in the heart of Eastcote, forever.
LESLEY CROWCROFT Chairwoman, Eastcote Residents' Association
