250 PEOPLE left without water after a burst water main in Cricklewood should be connected again this evening.

Thames Water has issued an apology after the large pipe burst at the A5 Edgware Road near Dollis Hill in the early hours of this morning.

A spokesman for Thames Water told Observer readers this afternoon: "It was a big pipe that burst, and so far we have had around 250 people call us to say they are without water. Thames Water is busy at the moment repairing the main and we have been handing out bottled water to people in the area affected."

There has been no damage to homes or property as a result of the burst water main, and Thames Water is expecting the it to be repaired between 5pm and 6pm this evening.

The spokesman said: "The road wasn't closed, and luckily the water ran down the pavement and didn't cause damage to homes. Obviously we are very sorry for the inconvenience."
