SPORTS clubs across the borough could see big improvements in their facilities if a £2million revamp investment programme is approved.

The Harrow draft outdoor pitch strategy 2013 to 2023 is being tabled at Harrow Council’s cabinet meeting on Thursday next week. If it is passed, Harrow will have a 10-year plan to improve sports pitches.

Highlights include a sports hub at Bannister Stadium, Uxbridge Road, Hatch End, which could have quality sports pitches with good drainage and a new sports training area.

There are also proposals to upgrade pitches at Headstone Manor Recreation Ground and Kenton Recreation Ground, as well as changing room improvements.

The cabinet member for community and cultural services, Councillor David Perry, said: “This is about increasing the participation in sport at a grass roots level and ensuring our residents are given as many opportunities as possible to be fit and active through sport.”
