Television presenter Carol Smillie will lead a ceremony this weekend to remember loved ones who have died and the memories they left behind.

The former Changing Rooms presenter will share a collection of readings at the annual Light up a Life event, being held at intu Uxbridge in High Street on Sunday, December 7 from 3pm to 4pm.

The event is being held for the Michael Sobell Hospice, in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood, which is inviting the public to attend.

Donna Watson, the shopping centre's marketing manager, said: “We’re pleased to be able to hold this year's service at the shopping centre and hope that the community will join us in celebrating the lives of loved ones that cannot be with us and show what they meant to us.”

The Showcase Choir will sing festive carols at the event, which will end with the Hospice Tree of Life being lit up and every attendee being given a candle representing the life of someone being remembered.
