A teenager is in a critical condition after he is thought to have taken an illegal drug during the Red Bull Culture Clash in Earls Court.

The male, thought to be 18, was taken by London Ambulance Service to a west London hospital at around 10.30pm yesterday (October 30) where he remains in a critical but stable condition. His next of kin have been informed.

Police were informed at around 10.45pm after the teen became critically ill during the gig at Earls Court One which sees bass, rap and reggae musicians battle it out over four stages to thrill the 20,000 strong crowd.

Presided over by DJ Annie Mac and comedian, actor and rapper Doc Brown the competition started at 5pm, with four rounds based on playing the heaviest sound, the best tunes, the biggest special guests, ambition and presentation.

It is not clear at this time what type of drug he is thought to have taken. Police enquiries into the incident continue.

Red Bull Culture Clash was one of the last five events to be held at the famous art deco exhibition centre as the bridge between Earls Court One and Two will be demolished in mid-November and demolition of the Exhibition Centre will start over the Christmas period to make way for new homes and community space.

The last event, according to the Earls Court website, will be a gig by indie rock band Bombay Bicycle Club on December 13.
