Staff at Bedfont Juniors are keeping a watchful eye on youngsters after the unprovoked attack on an 11-year-old girl by a knife-wielding old woman just 300 metres from the school gates.

The pupil had been walking home with a pal along Hatton Road when she was stabbed in the head and hands by the 70-year-old last Thursday and is now recovering at home.

A Bedfont woman was later arrested and is now bwing held in a unit in Ealing after being sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

The injured girl's classmates at Bedfont Junior School are now making 'get well soon' cards for her and staff and youngsters at all three nearby schools - Bedfont Junior, Bedfont Infants and Marjory Kinnon - have been visited by Feltham officers.

A spokesman for the school said: "We are all relieved that she is at home with her family and is recovering well. We have been keeping an eye on how students are reacting, to see if any further support is needed."
