What is your business?
A contemporary hairstyling and colouring salon for women and men, plus a high-powered tanning solarium. We’re situated in Fulham Road between Fulham Broadway and Parsons Green Tube stations.
How long have you been here?
Twelve years, we opened in 2000.
When are you busiest?
Weekday evenings between 5pm and 8pm. Also Saturdays.
What is your best seller?
We specialise in highlights and lowlights using silver foil – the best method for getting close to the root, unlike some of our competitors who use inferior techniques – along with semi-permanent, colour conditioning glossing and permanent tints.
We use and recommend the whole range of Fudge styling products and Joico shampoos and conditioners. We also provide a well-maintained tanning facility.
How are you managing in the economic downturn?
When the recession hit, we had an immediate decrease in turnover, but not because our clients all lost their jobs.
People that used to come in every six weeks started coming in every eight to 12 weeks instead. Even though they still had the same or higher spending power (because interest rates were so low), people were worried about spending money because they didn’t know what the future held.
Since the initial downturn though, and because we have such a solid client base, we have managed to build the business up again by attracting more clients.
The last couple of years seem to be steady, but of course there is always room for improvement.
Do you have a unique selling point?
You won’t be passed from person to person – one experienced hairdresser will take care of you from beginning to end. We provide a personal and individual experience in a relaxed and comfortable environment, with a consistency of service rarely found in other salons.
Do you have plans to expand?
We think it is best to concentrate on our existing salon at the moment, in order to provide the best customer care, and service for our clients.
