REFUGEE Week takes place across the UK this week, aiming to break down some of the barriers between people living in the UK and those who have sought sanctuary here.

As Amnesty International members we know all about the awful things that refugees have fled in their home countries. But ultimately, they are people like the rest of us.

This year we are asking people to do a 'simple act', such as having a cup of tea with a refugee or learning a few words of their language, to help people understand why refugees come here. Find out more at
