St Luke’s Hospice is looking for people to pound the streets of Brent in a charity fundraiser taking place in May.

The Harrow hospice has teamed up with Sudbury Court Running Club for the annual Run Wembley event. People of all running-abilities are being asked to take part and raise money for the Kenton Road hospice, with 10km, 8km and a 1km routes available.

Last year’s Run Wembley saw more than 200 runners take part and raise £5,000.

Run Director Louis Smyth says: "Sudbury Court Running Club has always supported different charities. The hospice is a local and popular charity and the members are enthused by the cause because they have had family who have received their care.

"Last year the event was very successful and we are excited about partnering up again this year. St Luke’s is a fantastic local organisation. It is a good chance for people to do something fun and positive at the same time."

The first person to sign up to the run, which takes place on May 17, was Peter Higgins from Kingsbury.

He said: "After experiencing the great work St Luke’s do first hand, Run Wembley is a great way to support them and spread the word. If more people joined up for the run it would raise more money for the hospice. After doing Run Wembley for the first time last year I found it’s a great community day for everyone."

The run starts at Wembley & Sudbury Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, Sylvester Road at 10.30am.
Registration is £15 for the 10km run, £8 for 5km and £1 for 1km.

Earlier this week St Luke’s Hospice appealed from people to take part in a charity skydive . For more information on Run Wembley or to register go to www.stlukes-hospice.org/runwembley or call Karina Rahim on 020 8382 8112
