THE team behind the Ealing Half Marathon has launched the Ealing Mile - with the first event taking place this Friday (June 7).

Race director Kelvin Walker said: "We are very excited to bring you the Ealing Mile. As organisers of the Ealing Half Marathon and keen runners ourselves we want to promote running and all its benefits, but we also know that not everybody wants to sign up for a half marathon. The Ealing Mile is a friendly and fun lunchtime race open to everyone, utilising the distance markers in Lammas Park.

"The mile distance has increased in popularity over the last few years and seen a real come back, and we thought it was the perfect distance to commit to and to cover at lunchtime on the first Friday of each month."

Every runner will receive their finish time and the Ealing Mile is open to runners of all levels.

The Ealing Mile starts at 12.30 pm at the Culmington Road entrance to Lammas Park and takes in one loop of the park, on the first Friday of each month. The entry fee of £3 includes the registration fee and the minimum age for runners is 17. There are no changing facilities in the park and runners need to collect their race number on site from 12 o’clock onwards.
