SWINE Flu has now been reported in three more schools bringing the total number of educational institutions to be affected in the borough to six.

Douay Martyrs in Edinburgh Drive, Ickenham, Yeading Infant and Nursery School in Carlyon Road and Rabbsfarm Primary School in Gordon Road, Yiewsley have all had reported cases.

Last Week The Uxbridge Gazette revealed how there were cases at Vyners School in Warren Road, Ickenham, Uxbridge College in Park Road, Uxbridge and Oak Farm Junior School in Windsor Avenue, Hillingdon. The NHS have since confirmed there are a total of 14 individual cases of swine flu in the borough.

However all schools are remaining open following the guidance given by the Health Protection Agency.

Lauren Parker, 25, of Lowdell Close, Yiewsley who is pregnant and has two children who attend Rabbsfarm Primary says both of them have caught the virus.

She said: "I've been told by Hillingdon Hospital that if my children catch the disease again the treatment will not work a second time round.

"My son, John who is eight has been ill for the last week and my three-year-old daughter, Samantha has been sick for the last two weeks. But I'm just worried because the school are asking me to send John back after five days of rest.

"I am petrified my kids could catch it again and that they can't be treated and may even lose their lives to it.

"I also believe the school should have informed us earlier because I understand there was a suspected case before and my son was the second to get it.

Mike Cassidy, headteacher at Rabbsfarm Primary school, said: "The school has taken full precautions from the first day Swine Flu was reported in the news. At this stage no additional cases have been reported at the school.

"We are taking all the necessary advice and precautions and we have taken this very very seriously."

Chris Jowett, local GP and NHS Hillingdon Professional Executive Committee Chair, said: "Given the small numbers of people in Hillingdon with Swine Flu, there should be no cause for undue concern to the public. Those confirmed with Swine Flu have had mild symptoms and responded well to treatment.

"The NHS has moved into the treatment phase of its Swine Flu plan. Now we know that Swine Flu is established there is little point in confirming someone has Swine Flu if they have the symptoms. Where someone has the symptoms of Swine Flu they will be offered treatment with antiviral drugs. We are well stocked with Tamiflu.

"A number of schools have reported having students with flu symptoms, but unless there is a considerable outbreak which means the school cannot function, the Health Protection Agency is advising that schools stay open."
