A campaign to force health chiefs to fund treatment for a terminally-ill Feltham woman is gathering steam as big-hearted Chronicle readers take to their keyboards and pick up their pens to add their messages of support.

The family of Jenny Robinson, of Eastern Way, including sister Jill (pictured), contacted the newsdesk in desperation last week after hearing the mum-of-two would miss out on vital treatment for her kidney cancer because of the so-called 'postcode lottery'.

Since their appeal angry messages have flooded in and the family has now launched a petition to try and force the hand of Hounslow Primary Care Trust (PCT), who are refusing to fund the pills Jenny desperately needs.

"It's just been like a nightmare since Jenny was diagnosed," said her sister Sally Robinson. "But since the story went out my mum's phone hasn't stopped ringing - the response has been amazing.

"People obviously want to help and by adding their names to the petition they can add to Jenny's appeal and maybe make a difference."

Jenny, 42, who works as a cashier at Tesco in Sunbury, is hoping to overturn the PCT's decision to deny her funding for the drug Sutent, which consultants at Charing Cross Hospital believe would prolong her life and boost her chances of survival.

The date for Jenny's appeal should be set by the end of this week and her family are asking people to copy the following phrase into an email message and send it to jennyrobinsoncampaign@hotmail.com.

"We the undersigned, show our support for Jenny Robinson in her appeal to secure the life saving treatment that she needs. We also support the principle that any patient should be prescribed treatment that they require, by the NHS, regardless of their location in the UK."

Alternatively, readers can copy the message, add their name and address and send it by post to the Chronicle, 93 Staines Road, Hounslow, TW3 3JB, or log on to www.hounslowchronicle.co.uk, and we will pass it on to the family.
