Scott and Margaret Dick have dedicated nearly three decades to providing BMX riding for young people in Hillingdon and last night they were recognised for their absolute dedication to their club.

They give up most weekends and many weekdays to promote and support BMX and other cycling activities, constantly working on fundraising, grant applications and maintaining the BMX track at Lake Farm Country Park in Hayes.

"I find it quite humbling when you compare the rest of the people who are here and the amazing work they're doing," said Mr Dick.

"It's nice to be a part of it. We're honored."

The couple's three children are all involved in the club and help with training.

"I suppose you could say it's a family affair," said Mrs Dick.

The pair are supported by an army of around 30 volunteers, and they dedicated their award to them

"It's great for the club," said Mr Dick. "It's for all of them as well."

Mr Dick is also the MC for British Cycling and does the commentating for their competitions and Mrs Dick helps as a welfare officer.

A total of 25 people were recognised in the ceremony which was held at Uxbridge College's Hayes campus last night.

Stephanie Bayford, 17, was named as the overall Superhero of Hillingdon for setting up a group for children with special needs which she funds herself.
