IT WAS out with the old and in with the new as a local Slimming World groups donated more than 70 bin bags of 'big' clothes helping to raise money for charity.

Hanworth super slimmers donated 44 bags as part of the national Clothes Throw fundraising campaign, while Osterley's slender members filled more than 25 bags of unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories.

Both group leaders, Hanworth's Georgina Wallace and Osterley's Toni Brennan dropped off the sacks at the Cancer Research UK shop in Hounslow this week, freeing up wardrobe space for new summer clothes.

Mrs Wallace from Feltham said: “One in three of us are affected by cancer and being overweight increases the risk of developing the disease.

"My dad died of bowel cancer in 2014 and nursing him through his illness was the catalyst which started me on my own weight loss journey.

“At group each week I support members to make healthy changes to the way they shop, cook and eat that they can keep up for life."

Mrs Brennan added: "This year Clothes Throw asked all members to bring in old clothes (large or small) and also children's clothes for the cause.

"I am over the moon and all members were so happy to help with this and contributed in different ways; sending bags in or putting money in the charity box!"

"The staff at Hounslow Cancer Research Shop were so happy to help in every way and were amazing."
