Students at Brunel University jumped on their saddles and enjoyed a bike ride around Uxbridge on Tuesday morning.

The event was organised by the students' union and London by Bike – a team working with Transport for London - and took in sights around the university including Grand Union Canal, historic pubs and Uxbridge Common.

The 2km route also passed by the leisure centre and athletics stadium, and the famous university itself.

A spokesman for the students' union said: “The aim was for people to find out about their local area while keeping fit at the same time.”

Around 20 cyclists took part, with the student union planning similar events in the near future.
