PUBLIC sector workers in Uxbridge joined picket lines outside their offices in an ongoing dispute over pensions and pay.
Dozens took part in the walkouts at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) office in Belmont Road and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in Park Road. The DWP office in Uxbridge Road, Hayes, also saw protests.
Some members of the PCS, Unite, and UCU trade unions later joined the protest march taking place this afternoon (Thursday) in central London.
Lydia Ndoinjeh, from Yiewsley, was one of those striking today. The PCS assistant branch secretary told the Gazette: "We had a good turnout and we were joined by [Hayes MP] John McDonnell.
"Not only have we had pay freezes but our pensions are being cut. People are already struggling, they are fed up."
The Public Service Pensions Bill was included in the Queen's Speech on Wednesday.
Wally Kennedy, secretary of Hillingdon Against Cuts (HAC), said: "Austerity doesn't work, we need to put money back in people's pockets."
