TESCO is proudly announcing that its revamped superstore at Brent Park is now to be called 'Wembley'.

Where did they get the idea that the location, which is on the east side of the River Brent, is somehow in Wembley?

Whose advice did they seek? Because the advice and the concept is totally wrong.

Brent Park is in part of the former Willesden borough; the nearest station is Neasden and not Wembley Park.

Just because it is in sight of the new Wembley Stadium arch does not entitle Tesco to try to place its store in Wembley.

It is wrong, it is muddled and it is, above all, misleading. Imagine people wandering around Wembley trying to find this store somewhere along Wembley High Road!

As far as I know, Ikea is also located in Brent Park which is the long-established designated name for the site created out of the former Ascot factory area.

It will cost a little to revert to the correct name, but Tesco surely has the moral courage to own up to its error and to stop trying to alter geographical fact and change history.
