An online petition protesting against plans by Tesco to enlarge its Station Road, Harrow, store, has been launched.

So far only 32 people have signed up to condemn the proposal, recently lodged with Harrow Council by the Hertfordshire-based supermarket giant, to add a mezzanine floor, expand its range of goods, built a multi-storey car park and add three independent retail units.

The man behind the petition, entitled 'Stop Tesco Expansion in Harrow' and published on GoPetition.com on October 17, is James Noe.

In his introduction, Mr Noe writes: "As local residents we are very concerned about this development. Tesco claim it will be good for the local economy and environment, however we disagree.

We believe that this development will have a negative impact on traffic in Harrow, the environment, the local economy, local shops, local jobs and local residents."
