STILT races, face painting and violin buskers were all part of the St Michael Steiner School’s first summer fair at their new home in Hanworth.

Around 400 people swarmed through the gates, in Park Road, on Saturday, June 22, when 200 metres of bunting, created by parents, decorated the grounds.

Families enjoyed a day out and helped raise more than £5,000 towards expansion plans for their new grounds, of which nearly £2,000 was made through a silent auction.

Popular pony rides were provided by Park Lane Stables, in Teddington, and the favourite of the fair games were splat the rat, the coconut shy and the ‘guess the marble’ challenge.

Students also put their violin skills to the test and paraded around the grounds busking, balloon modelling and nail painting, to help drum up the funds.

A spread of food was up for grabs including the popular chocolate fountain, with marshmallows or waffles, chocolate stall, barbecue burgers and sausages, as well as sushi, homemade salads and cakes.
