AN ICKENHAM girl will be stepping on to the red carpet and rubbing shoulders with the stars at the premiere of her big screen debut.

Six-year-old Leah Fatania stars alongside Hollywood actor and comedian Omid Djalili and Little Britain's Matt Lucas in the eagerly awaited comedy The Infidel, written by David Baddiel.

She plays Nabi Nasir, the four-year-old daughter of Djalili's character, who has an identity crisis after discovering his Jewish background - with hilarious consequences.

Leah, who goes to school in Ruislip, is on the books of a modelling agency which was approached by the film's casting team.

Leah's mum, Rina, said: "We got the call out of the blue and they wanted Leah to come in for a screen test and an audition.

"She has always been a bit of a drama queen, so she took to it really well. She's a natural in front of the camera, and when we heard the news that she got the part we were all so excited."

Mrs Fatania said the whole family was extremely proud and added: "I've seen the film and it is fantastic.

"The cast were really close knit and everyone was really lovely and welcoming - there were no big egos on the set."

The film's premiere is on April 8. Mrs Fatania said: "You never know, it could be the start of a glittering career!

"I'm just happy that she has enjoyed herself, and we will support her with whatever she might want to do now."

"She has said she wants to do more acting although she is still very young, so we will just see what comes along."
