NEIGHBOURS have spoken of their horror after a man was stabbed in their 'normally quiet' street in Southall, on the borders of Hounslow and Ealing.

A man in his early 20s remains in hospital, in a serious but stable condition, after the stabbing last night in Wentworth Road.

Three men, all in their early 20s and from the local area, remain in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police were called to the scene at about 8.10pm last night and officers from Hounslow CID are investigated.

One woman living on the street told this morning how she heard a commotion and someone shouting 'why did you do that?'.

The woman who asked not to be named, said it was normally a quiet street but 'not a nice area' because of problems with drugs.

A man, who also asked not to be named, said: "I was shocked when I heard what had happened. It's a quiet street and we've never had any problems before.

Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency police number 101.
