An unusual exhibit planned for Trafalgar Square's fourth plinth was given the go-ahead on Thursday.

Antony Gormley's One and Other display, where 2,400 people appear on the plinth for one hour each, 24 hours a day and for 100 days, will start from July 16.

Westminster Council's planning committee gave permission for the exhibit to remain until October 14.

Sculptures look set to include a ballerina and a naked actor, and were chosen at random from thousands of applicants.
